Customer / Buyer:
A Customer is a company,  specified with the attribute 'Is Customer'. In the context of the Marketplace Catalog Portal, the term 'buyer' is often used to refer to the customer, as the buyer is the party receiving catalogs and price lists from the suppliers.Within MCP, 'customer' and 'buyer' are synonymous.  For a customer general attributes, addresses, contacts, and a profile can be created and maintained. Users assigned to the customer company can receive catalogs for this customer.

Administrator and Self-Service:
Some fields, such as address fields and the export format, can be maintained by both the administrator and the users of a buyer.

In the MCP workflow, the customer's email address is crucial for sending email notifications to the correct email address. This is part of the customer's default address.

Create Address for a Customer

It is recommended to create the Customer Address first, as it is assigned during the creation of a Customer Company.

Go to Settings / Addresses and click on the button 'Create' to create an address.

To create the address, an address ID is required. This ID can be freely chosen.

An essential required field for the MCP workflow is the email address, which must be entered into the 'Email' field.

You may optionally enter additional address fields, such as street, city, etc., for informational purposes.

Click on 'Save' to save the address.

Create a Customer Company

Go to Settings / Companies

To create a company, click on the button 'Create'.

General

Enter a Company ID, this ID can be freely chosen and mark the checkbox 'Is Customer'.

It is recommended to also populate the 'Name' field by entering the customer's company name. The 'Company ID' and 'Name' fields are the primary fields used in searches and filters when searching for a customer.

Addresses

Multiple addresses can be created and managed for a company. For MCP, the default address is the one used in the workflow.

Go to the Detault section and select the customer address which should be used for the workflow in MCP. Mark this address as 'Default' address by clicking in the bullet (as in the example below). All other addresses, like Delivery or Invoice Addresses are not relevant for MCP.

Customer Address

Contacts

Contacts for a customer can be optionally maintained for informational purposes.

Profile

The customer profile can be created by the administrator or by the users of the customer themselves through self-service.

The Catalog Export Format defines the format in which the catalog is generated for the customer.

Check the 'autopublish' checkbox if the customer is authorized for autopublish. Please note that additional administrative setups, such as configuring a secure FTP transfer, are typically required for this.

Once all the required fields are filled in, click on 'Save' to store the data. The customer company has now been created and can be utilized for the MCP workflow.
